CASE STUDY – Konica Minolta

BACKGROUND
Konica Minolta is a world renowned international company with its roots in Japan producing a long range of Photocopier Machines. They earn huge profits and hence liable for taking up CSR activities. For spending CSR funds gainfully, Konica Minolta Business Solutions organised a CSR program focused on child education, child protection, child rights, health & nutrition for underprivileged children in association with CRY foundation in India. Konica Minolta  alsolaunched a youth skill development program (YSDP). According to Konica Minolta, two primary objectives the company aspires to achieve from the initiative are producing industry specific skilled manpower and achieve lower attrition rate which is a major challenge in the industry. YSDP aims 100% job placement for certified candidates and would thus aim to be a great opportunity to have win-win situation for Konica Minolta, partners and the candidates. The YSDP program will provide a much desired upliftment  to the unemployed/ underemployed youths.
SOLUTION
To give a concrete shape its objective Konica Minolta joined hands with Care Skills Academy in Noida. This academy is an authorized training partner of ESSCI (Electronic Sector Skills Council of India) working under the aegis of NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation). Care Skills Academy was given the responsibility of taking lead role for Konica Minolta’s YSDP program. Konica Minolta desired academy to utilize   its expertise and methodology to produce industry specific skilled work force in the field of Photocopier Techniques using the hardware and software provided by Konica Minolta.Two months Training program for a batch of 25 students was designed specifically by Care Skills Academy for providing training on Photocopier Machines Post this training, ESSCI personnel will examine the candidates and certify them with NSDC certification. YSDP aims 100% job placement for certified candidates and would thus aim to be a great opportunity to have win-win situation for Konica Minolta, partners and the candidates. Training of the first batch started on 1st December 2016
EXECUTION RATIONALE
The Training program on Photocopier Machines was a new program not appearing on the list of approved programs of  ESSCI. The Training syllabus and the course material was meticulously designed by Care Skills Academy and the training of the first batch (First in India) started. The challenge before Care Skills Academy was to obtain ESSCI’s approval for conducting final assessment of the students and thereafter issuance of ESSCI’s Certificate to successful students. All the problems were sorted out with cooperation from ESSCI and Konica Minolta and 100% placement was achieved after certification and provided great opportunity to have win-win situation for Konica Minolta, Care Skills Academy and the students.. Konica Minolta was highly satisfied with the performance of Care Skills Academy and asked Care Skills Academy to proceed  further for training of subsequent batches at Nagpur and Chennai  and repeat the training at Noida. Relationship with Konica Minolta continues.
